MAITLAND, Fla., March 9, 2017 -- On March 8, wildfires were reported on two St. Johns River Water Management District properties.
Update as of March 9 at 2:15 p.m.:
The district responded to wildfire reported on the Hal Scott Regional Preserve and Park in Orange County and on the Seminole Ranch Conservation Area (at the convergence of Orange, Brevard, Volusia and Seminole counties).
The fire at Hal Scott Regional Preserve and Park is contained. Mop up operations are ongoing to reduce smoke and prevent the chance of fire a breaking-out.
The two wildfires at Seminole Ranch Conservation Area have burned out.
To date, rainfall trends for 2017 have been below average with future predictions for similar trends, creating conditions favorable for wildfire.
