Palatka, Fla., JUNE 16, 1999 — Residents of Putnam Countyare invited to a workshop on June 23 to help identify key issuesfor the St. Johns River Water Management District’s long-termwater resource plan.
Workshop participants will be asked to identify water resourceissues and potential solutions for Putnam County. The informationwill be used to update the District Water Management Plan, acomprehensive document focusing on water supply, flood protection,water quality and natural systems.
The plan contains data, schedules and policies to guide theDistrict’s budget and strategic planning efforts for the nextfive years. It also is a source of technical water resourcesinformation for local governments.
The plan is revised every five years, and the first revisionis due to the Florida Department of Environmental Protectionin November.
The workshop will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the countyAgriculture Extension Center, 111 Yelvington Road, East Palatka.A similar meeting for local government staff will be held from2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
