Projects committee combines with recreational meeting in Lady Lake

PALATKA, Fla., Sept. 21, 2006 — The St. Johns River Water ManagementDistrict Governing Board’s Projects and Land Committee will meet Thursday,Oct. 5, in Lady Lake.

For the first time, the Projects and Land Committee meeting will be combinedwith the October Central Recreational Public Meeting. The combined meetingwill be held at 6 p.m. in the Comfort Suites Hotel Meeting Room, 1202 AvenidaCentral North.

Topics planned for discussion include the Silver Springs/River Pollution ReductionProject in Marion County and land acquisition, land management and recreationupdates for the west and south-central regions of the District.

The committee meets each month at various locations throughout the District’s18-county service area to receive an overview and update on the District’slocal restoration projects. District staff will brief the committee on currentprojects, and local officials and interested members of the public are encouragedto offer comments.

The Projects and Land Committee members are District Governing Board membersWilliam Kerr of Melbourne Beach, Clay Albright of Ocala, Ann Moore of Bunnell,John Sowinski of Orlando and Leonard Wood of Fernandina Beach.
