Recreation meeting to focus on off-road vehicles

PALM BAY, Fla., June 3, 2005 — The use of off-road vehicles at BullCreek Wildlife Management Area will be among the topics discussed atthe St. Johns River Water Management District’s Southern RegionRecreational Public Meeting.

The meeting is Thursday, June 16, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Indian RiverCounty Commission Chambers located at 1840 25th St. in Vero Beach.

District staff members will also provide updates on recreation, andmanagement and acquisition activities in the upper basin of the St. JohnsRiver. The public will have an opportunity to comment on recreationalissues involving District lands.

The District acquires lands to provide flood protection, protect watersupplies, and restore and preserve water bodies. In addition to waterresource benefits, public lands maintain wildlife habitats and providecompatible recreational opportunities to the public.

Meeting attendees generally include representatives from state andlocal government and recreational user groups. They offer recommendationson public use issues related to District land in Indian River, Brevardand Osceola counties.
