PALATKA, Fla., April 27, 2005 — The public is invited to participatein discussions of recreation on public lands in the central region of the St.Johns River Water Management District at a public meeting Wednesday, May 4,in Apopka.
The meeting is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in the recreation hall located at 176East 5th St. in Apopka.
District staff members will provide updates on recreation, land managementand land acquisition activities. Project manager Gian Basili will present anoverview of the Lake Apopka restoration project and members of the public willhave the opportunity to comment on recreation issues involving District lands.
The District acquires lands to provide flood protection, protect water supplies,restore and preserve water bodies, maintain wildlife habitats and provide compatiblerecreational opportunities to the public.
