PALATKA, Fla., Dec. 3, 2004 — Harumi Rodriguez, winner of the WaterWorks Environmental Education Center logo design contest, was presentedwith a plaque and various gifts at an awards ceremony held at the centeron Nov. 19. Rodriguez won the contest out of more than 50 entries. Rodriguezis a student at Florida School of the Arts in Palatka.
The St. Johns River Water Management District, city of Palatka, SeminoleElectric, Georgia Pacific and others are working to renovate Palatka’shistoric Water Works building, built in 1887, to use as an environmentaleducation center and history museum. Once completed, the center willprovide environmental education programs to Putnam County and northeastFlorida students.
