PALATKA, Fla., Sept.15, 2004 — The St. Johns River Water ManagementDistrict has issued an Emergency Order in response to damage caused byHurricane Frances.
The Emergency Orderallows District staff to authorize certain activities that would otherwiserequire a District permit. The order, which reduces the time in whichrepairs can begin, focuses primarily on the repair or restoration ofdamaged structures, and drainage systems and shorelines. Structuresinclude outfalls, roads, bridges, culverts, docks and piers. The EmergencyOrder includes time frames associated with the various restorationor repair activities that may be authorized.
Many of the repair activities require an on-site inspection and writtenfield authorization in advance.
