Get Area of Interest

This "Get Area of Interest" panel allows users to select their area of interest: county, city, basin, planning unit, quad map, section/township/range, lat/long, single address/intersection, box, point, or Point Radius.

To navigate to the area of your interest, use the dropdown list from the "AOI Category," select the option you want, then fill in additional information when necessary.

How do I conduct a county search?
  1. Select "County" from the "AOI Category" dropdown list.
  2. The county name dropdown list displays.

  4. The map will be refreshed and the county you selected will be highlighted and set to the center of the map.

How do I conduct a city search?
  1. Select "City" from the "AOI Category" dropdown list.
  2. The city name dropdown list displays (if the list is not populated, try to click the list again).

  4. The map will be refreshed and the city you selected will be highlighted and set to the center of the map.
How do I conduct a basin search?
  1. Select "Basin" from the "AOI Category" dropdown list.
  2. The basin name dropdown list displays (if the list is not populated, try to click the list again in a few seconds).

  4. The map will be refreshed and the basin you selected will be highlighted and set to the center of the map.
How do I conduct a planning unit search?
  1. Select "Planning Unit" from the "AOI Category" dropdown list.
  2. The planning unit name dropdown list displays (if the list is not populated, try to click the list again).

  4. The map will be refreshed and the planning unit you selected will be highlighted and set to the center of the map.
How do I conduct a quad map search?
  1. Select "1:24000 Quad Map" from the "AOI Category" dropdown list.
  2. The quad map name dropdown list displays (if the list is not populated, try to click the list again).

  4. The map will be refreshed and the quad map you selected will be highlighted and set to the center of the map.
How do I conduct a section/township/range search?
  1. Select "Section/Township/Range" from the "AOI Category" dropdown list.
  2. Enter section, township, and range values into the appropriate fields.

How do I conduct a box search?
  1. Navigate the area of your interest.
  2. Select "Box" from the "AOI Category" dropdown list.
  3. Click .
  4. Move the mouse cursor to the map area, click and hold the left mouse button with the pointer in the location of the upper left corner of the box. Then drag the mouse to the lower right corner of the box. A red box displays. Release the left mouse button to complete the box.
  5. The map will be refreshed and set to the center of the map.
  6. To conduct this type of search again, repeat steps 1-4.
How do I conduct a point w/radius search?
  1. Navigate the area of your interest.
  2. Select "Point" or "Point Radius" from the "AOI Category" dropdown list.
  3. Enter the buffer distance (in miles) if you want to.
  4. Click .
  5. Move the mouse cursor to the map area, click the location of your interest.
  6. The map will be refreshed. A circle with yellow outline will display.

  7. To conduct this type of search again, repeat steps 1-4.

If you used the navigation tools after clicking the , you will need to click the again to start the search.

How do I conduct a lat/long search?
  1. Select "Lat/Long" from the "AOI Category" dropdown list.
  2. Enter latitude and longitude values in decimal degree OR degree, minute, second format into the appropriate fields.
  3. Enter the buffer distance (in miles) if you want to.

  5. The map will be refreshed. A circle with yellow outline representing the buffered area around the lat/long location will display. If the buffer is set to 0, the lat/long location will have a pink point on top of it.

How do I conduct a address search?
  1. Select "Address" from the "AOI Category" dropdown list.
  2. Enter address information into the appropriate fields.

  4. Click .
  5. The map will be refreshed and zoom to the address you selected.
